An evening of glitz and glamour in support of the Andrew Henderson Memorial Scholarship.
In 2016, Andrew Henderson—a former LFG staff member and strong supporter of the Friends of Lower Fort Garry—passed away after a three-year struggle with cancer. It is safe to say Andrew had an incredible impact on those who knew him. Beyond his infectious sense of humour, his devotion to learning and teaching, and his passion for performing arts, Andrew was committed to helping everyone love themselves for who they are. It was this inspiring and positive outlook on life, perhaps above all else, that left such a mark on so many.
To honour Andrew’s memory, the Friends of Lower Fort Garry will be establishing the Andrew Henderson Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving grade 12 student from the Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive Secondary School—Andrew’s alma mater—who shares his passion for the arts and history, and who plans to attend a post-secondary institution upon graduation.
To raise the necessary funds, the Friends will be hosting a party at the historic Lower Fort Garry, just 15 minutes north of Winnipeg. This will be a night to celebrate Andrew’s love for life—and for all things glamorous—and will feature a few of his favourite things:
- An unparalleled night of great music and dancing
- A photo booth (with historical costumes for added fun)
- Did we mention champagne?
In addition, there will be many social favourites including a 50/50 draw and a uniquely Manitoban snack menu.
All proceeds will go towards the scholarship fund and investment. Tax receipts available for certain donation levels.
