Join us in the warm Visitor Centre

Saturday and Sunday, November 19 & 20

from 10am – 5pm

to peruse local makers’ wares and browse the bespoke Gift Shop.
A great event to find a gift for a loved one, or to treat yourself, all while supporting local artists.

Admission to the Market is FREE, but donations are gratefully accepted.

Join us at 9am for a Santa Pancake Breakfast created by Life a Little Sweeter.

Ghost Walks 2022

Join us for a ghostly adventure at Lower Fort Garry this October! Book your walking tour now to learn the haunting whispers of fantasy surrounding the site, then join us around a fire for some complimentary hot chocolate to finish the night! Start the night off with a delicious meal from Life a Little Sweeter, located in the Visitor Reception Centre at Lower Fort Garry. Harvest Fest 2022

We are excited to bring back the excitement of Harvest Season!

Join us from 10am – 4pm, August 20

for a market with curated local artisans, demonstrations and workshops; browse our bespoke gift shop, The Stone Fort Trading Company, and enjoy a meal and drink from numerous Food Trucks, Life a Little Sweeter Restaurant, and the Thirsty Beaver Tavern (fully licensed!).

Admission is free.

We will also be raising money for our summer programming through raffles, a 50/50 and our Tavern!

Yoga on the Red 2022

Join us by the tranquil Red River on

from 6:30pm to 7:30pm

for a gentle Yin Yoga to calm the mind and ground the body.

Join us for a Jubilant Afternoon of Songs and Sunshine!

Bring your own blanket or chairs to sit on the lawn of the historic Big House at Lower Fort Garry.

Have a sip of wine and nibble on charcuterie, or enjoy a spot of tea and cookies, as you listen to singers from the Manitoba Underground Opera serenade you. You’ll enjoy operatic and musical theatre hits sung by Katherine Mayba, Karen Santos, and Jean van der Merwe.

Tickets are FREE of charge, so this is the perfect way to kick off the summer!!

Drinks and Snacks will be available for purchase from the Thirsty Beaver Tavern.

The Friends of Lower Fort Garry are committed to promoting Canada’s natural and cultural heritage through awareness, educational and sensory experiences. Our passionate group of volunteers seeks out independent and collaborative partnerships with LFGNHS. We also focus on nurturing positive relationships with the community of Selkirk, the Interlake, and the greater Winnipeg area. We welcome you to explore the site and learn more about our offerings, such as the Stone Fort Trading Company gift shop, the Adventurer’s Day Camp, seasonal events, and much more.

Your generosity provides opportunities for us to enhance the Lower Fort Garry NHS as well as to offer educational opportunities for Manitoban’s to learn, grow and explore Canadian History.

Walk amongst Canada’s oldest collection of stone fur trade buildings to experience the life of the trappers and traders of the Hudson’s Bay Company at Lower Fort Garry as they lived in the 1850s.
