This sash is machine-made using polyester. This design first appeared around the time of the first Carnaval de Québec in the late 1950s and has since been adopted by many different festivals and organizations. Due to its widespread use, this is the most recognized sash. These sashes are almost always made on a machine with the sides serged (sewn to keep the material together). Contrary to popular belief, this sash was never used by a traditional fur trader or bison hunter. It also comes with a Métis flag patch sewn on the sash that can easily be seen while wearing the sash.
